Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to be responsible for the planning and administration of our employee benefit programs. This employee will be working in our Human Resources department communicating with vendors and employees to resolve all day-to-day benefit-related issues.

Successful candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain meticulous records, and the ability to collaborate with other departments and external service providers.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Administering employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Accounts, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, 401k, education assistance, COBRA, and workers’ compensation
  • Coordinating annual Benefit Open Enrollment
  • Assisting staff with benefit related issues such as eligibility questions, medical claims issues, billing questions, etc. and responds to queries and requests in a timely manner
  • Assisting with communication material, booklets, and other media for communicating benefit plans and programs to employees
  • Researching new benefit offerings and vendors
  • Coordinating coverage and data transmission with benefit plan carriers
  • Collaborating with payroll and ensure that employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Reconciling monthly benefit invoicing and works closely with Accounts Payable to ensure timely payments and reporting
  • Assisting in compliance of all benefit documentation such as summary plan descriptions, plan documents, required benefit disclosures, etc. Maintains and creates records, reports, and documentation in accordance with federal, state, and provider regulations

Skills / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred
  • 2 years of experience as a Benefits Administrator/Specialist or in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of relevant policies and regulations
  • "Team player" mentality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
